"i7-7900X", does anyone have informations about this SKU?

Hello, I thought I bought "i9-7900X QS" at the ebay from chinese seller, but, both BIOS and Windows show as "i7-7900X.

It appears to be Geniue Intel CPU, according to Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool, and passes all tests.

However, both CPU-Z and HWiNFO64 show as "i9-7900X".

Is this means i9-7900X planned to be launched as i7-7900X or something?

Does anyone have informations about this SKU?

I think you got a release candidate cpu that later had it's name changed.

The i9 7900X was almost certainly at one point going to be called the i7 7900X.

 

The i9 moniker did not exist until that generation. Before that, the best X series CPUs were all i7 ones, like the i7 6950X.
