D4 Upgrade Advice

Cheers. My main goal is upgrading the GPU currently, so i'll keep looking at options with that.

No worries.  If you go with a GPU that's using more than like 200w, you might want to look into a bigger PSU.  I'd say yours is fine with like a 6600xt or maybe a 6700xt (or 3070), but with any more power draw than that, you'll probably want a more pwoerful PSU.

Another little tidbit, the 5700xt is a steal on eBay right now for a quite powerful GPU.  It's punching about the same as a 6600 for quite a bit less in most places.  Just uses a bit more power, but it'd be fine on a cx600.

Hi there, I am looking to upgrade my PC so that I can run Diablo 4 with high graphics when it launches. I think I can get away with upgrading just the GPU and RAM, but not sure what the best options would be.

Budget (including currency): $800 NZD

Country: New Zealand

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Upgrading to run Diablo 4, other than that just low impact games (Card Games, Auto Battlers etc)

Other details My current PC is:

  • CPU - Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor
  • MB - MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 CL14 Memory
  • GPU -  MSI TWIN FROZR GeForce GTX 750 2 GB Video Card
  • Power - Corsair CX600M 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply
  • Case - NZXT H440 ATX Mid Tower Case
  • OS - Windows 10

I was looking at this GPU as a possible option, but really happy to hear any suggestions.

Hello. I think you would be best with a new PC all together. Starting with the GPU first. I would recommend the RX 6750XT. It will get you the most out of Diablo 4 (I am also a Diablo player) and you can run the game at max settings. But like I said, start with the GPU first and then buy the other parts when you can.

That CPu is still probably fine, I'd wait till it launches to know for sure, but with an 8600k, depending on how many threads D4 wants to run on and the resolution you play at, you could be using something as fast as a 6800xt, but I doubt D4 is gonna really want all that GPU power.  Even something as cheap as a 6600 (which would be totally fine with an 8600k) would probably do fine.  But yeah, probably gonna need some benchmarks to see what the game actually needs.

Your GPU is definitely your weakest link, tho.  The rest of your system could go with a way faster GPU.

Hey, thanks for the info.

I would love to build a new PC, but it is outside of my budget unfortunately. So mostly looking for just upgrade advice for now.

For right now go with the 6750XT, it's in your budget and you can always build around it later if you want.
