Making it quiet...

Mehcanic

Hi all,

Got new pc for office/web dev with Ryzen 5600g and no gpu. It supposed to be a home lab but it's good for now with remote desktop. My question is how can I make it as quiet as possible. It got stock fans and stock cpu cooler.

Thanks

Add a better cpu cooler an ak400 or similar is a budget cooler and plenty good. The peerless assasin 120 is a little more and beyond overkill but can then run with very slow fans

Case? But yeah if its just the 5600G, you can just go with overkill cooler with fan design thats good for low RPM operation and youre off to the races. The 5600G wattage is really low.

Even something small like the be quiet pure rock slim is really quiet - but the exact cooler depends on what you can fit.

I have one in my NAS and cant hear a thing if the drives are off/in standby.

I can fit the biggest you will find. Will I need case fans or cpu and power supply will be ok? Probably noctua fans. But which ones?

Or should I go with passive cpu cooler?

A five pack of p12s costs as much as an nfa 12 and is very close to as quiet and performant. Don’t go with a passive cooler, even the huge one from noctua is pretty bismal

This is my case: Lian Li Lancool 205 Tempered Glass ATX Midi.

Will I actually need any fans in the case? The cpu will run mostly on idle. I'd rather buy everything once and forget about it.

I'm thinking about Noctua NH9 / 12 / 15 or beQuiet Dark Rock PRO 4 / Shadow Rock 3

or maybe small liquid cooler 2x120 will be fine?

It is supposed to come with fans normally.

As for cooler a sycthe fuma 2, peerless assasin 120, dark rock 4,ak620,... all are top of the line cpu coolers and affordable. Get the cheapest one. They smash almost all 280mm aio.

You want quiet for that baby CPU?

Buy a Thermalright FC140, and with that you can run that CPU with no fans installed on the cooler. It can handle my 5800X3D with no fans.

AMD R7 5800X3D | Thermalright Frozen Edge 360, 5x TL-B12 V2
Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 4x8GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3733C14
Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity OC @ 3045/1496 | WD SN850, SN850X, SN770
Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 | Fractal Torrent Compact, TL-B14, TY-143
