Hello, so my A4Tech X-748K (ancient model) started dying recently. I was thinking about replacing it with something better.

My priorities are:

1. Good grip / right-handed profile; I hate all those typical small and symmetric office mouses.

2. Settings, that are stored on the mouse/board + some physical button to switch between them; I want to be able to use it with the same settings/profiles, configured once (mostly DPI / tuned down RGB, maybe macros/buttons as well) across multiple computers and systems, I'm not gonna run some bloatware at all times on all of them, just for the mouse to work properly.

3. Reliability, longevity, I'd like it to last at least couple years (not months).

4. Precision, input lag etc. - difficult to say, obviously the best possible (I play a lot of games, mostly FPS, albeit not competitively), but I don't have frame of reference (though I've been using 2 models of this A4Tech for the last decade or so, so I assume anything produced now is better).

Nice to haves:

1. Additional weight possibilities (especially since I'm not 100% sure how much does my current one weighs).

2. Less RGB = better.

3. Buttons and especially roll not being insanely loud.

So far, from what I searched + talked to some people, I narrowed it down to 3 possibilities, and here's where my actual questions come in:

Logitech G502 Hero - AFAIK great mouse, hits all the boxes, one of the most popular anyway, so overall perfect choice, I would probably go with it. However, I've read multiple comments about broken switches after just couple weeks/months. My question is, was this just a bad batch, or is there any revision number / second edition that I can be looking for to avoid this issue? Or is it blown out of proportion maybe? I mean it kind of sounds insane to me, supposedly the most popular mouse, and yet has this serious flaw, that would be left un-fixed for the last 5 years (?)

Logitech 502 X - Supposedly improvement over the above one (should fix switches problems), with the obvious downside being higher price, plus they removed additional weight option, both of which I guess I could live with. However, here I wanted to ask about roll, is it true, that it gives way too much resistance and is really loud on the top of it? For example, I'm not sure if this guy cranked up the mic too much, or is it really this bad? --> https://youtu.be/AQJF3LNnE5Y?t=410

Razer Basilisk V3 - Theoretically, everything is fine with it, shape-wise a copy of G502. However, here the sticking point is on-board memory profiles (or lack-thereof?). Can you actually store full profiles on this mouse and switch between them without the software? I've read multiple posts about Razer mices, and some people claim, that on-board profiles effectively don't work without the software (which to me would defeat the whole purpose of having them in the first place), other claim that some settings work, other don't; I also found some disturbing info about needing a cloud account just to configure profiles (?!). Is any of this true, or can I actually and reliably configure everything on board and use it without this Razer Synapse later on? If not, then this is no go for me (again, I'm not gonna install some Razer software on all my systems, especially Linux and/or work devices).

Given my issues/questions, which one of those would you recommend in my case? Maybe you have some better recommendations?

I must say I absolutely love my G502/HERO.  Its very comfortable and suits my claw grip very well, medium size hand.  This is my 2nd G502 as the first one broke on the cord into the mouse part itself, I move seats OFTEN from office chair to recliner to racing sim seat so my mouse got tugged a lot and dropped on the floor daily. During normal use it would still work without issue, I am 100% sure of it. It lasted over 4 years with constant abuse/neglect.  I bought 2 G502's on black friday last year, I like this mouse so much that if the one I have now breaks I have one spare asap. I wanted a mouse that felt similar to the old mx518.

Those are all really really really bad mice in 2023.

You want the Lamzu Atlantis or the Viper V2 Pro.

Lamzu atlantis is the best mouse I've ever used

Logitech G502 Hero also comes with additonal weights to add into the mouse so you can add or remove dependIng on how you like.

Im on my 2nd G502 and i love them. The Mx510/518 of the present.

Also i have big hands still comfy

The G502 is an ancient heavy relic. OP mentioned they play FPS. You want something light OP. The G502 also has horrendous omron switches that double click after a few years. The Lamzu has crispy Huano Blue switches that are FAR superior. It's also wireless with 70h battery and there is no stupid software like for logitech. Everything is stored on the mouse.

That is quite cool, Never heard of that mouse but i play alot of fps games no problem with accuracy or double clicking(even on the old mouse) and i took all the weights out but the op asked for flexibility with the weight.

Oh and i would never play fps games with a wireless mouse but i hear they are pretty good these days.

Sorry, forgot to mention, that I wanted wired one. Additionally, those are much pricier, than I'm willing to spend, and Lamzu seems to be barely profiled. If I wanted to take Razer, I would have selected Basilisk V3 (which I'm still somewhat interested in), but as long as I'm not sure about how software works, it is no go for me.

I assume, that you didn't experience any problems with the switches? Wasn't there any need to fix or RMA them?

No need, if i had any wear issues with the 1st one i wouldnt have bought it again or reccomending it. But i have heard of this double clicking issue but never expirenced it on a g502. i bought wireless mouse some years ago a g602 and that has very bad double click issues now but i havent had this issue with any of the g502s myself

as an avid FPS player throughout the years ( Started COD 1 in 2004 ).  I never understood why people need ultra light mice.. How weak are you? 😄

No, no problems at all.  Had 2 of my friends buy the mouse and they love it, working without issues for 3+ years now.

Well, to be fair he's probably not wrong, I mean theoretically the lighter mouse = faster = better. This is not about being weak, more about split-second difference in key moment. That said, in my case that doesn't really apply, as I don't play competitively (I barely even play anything online these days). Also, I'm not sure if switching to ultra-light mouse after over 2 decades of habit would be beneficial (though I think those from ball era were even heavier).

Anybody ever used those Razer ones and can tell me anything about their software / profiles?

I really like the recent razer mice, but the software is really the worst, i do my absolute best to never install it.

If you are mostly interested in a mouse that is built very well then i can reccomend Vaxee outset ax or zowie ec2-c (or ec1-c). They dont really have profiles, but you can change the dpi on a button on the mouse. No Rgb on either, however both have quite loud tactile scroll wheels.

IMO they are the best mice avaliable in terms of build quality.
