Blu-ray player software for PC

Galaxy2007

I recently ordered a Blu-Ray drive to put in my HTPC build, does anyone know of good software for playing them? I'd like something that supports an IR reciever and also runs automatically if a blu-ray or dvd is detected in the disk drive.

Update: I've decided its easier to just rip the disks with MakeMKV than actually find blu-ray playing software

VLC is the most popular media player for good reason

Note that VLC won't be able to decrypt the discs by itself - I doubt they would be able to play them natively.

For BD software, generally, you're probably looking at something like Cyberlink PowerDVD, etc.

@random person from ohio check this out, and you should do some research on other software too

You're much better off getting a set top BD player. HTPC is a dead end.

I do generally agree with you. Performance, UI and general experience will be better with a set top BD player. I use an Xbox One S and it works rather well (though it's quality isn't as good as something like the UB820).

Only reason I would use a BD Drive for is to rip 4K BD's, and you need specific drive and firmware to do that.
