What DisplayPort do I need for 144hz at 1440p?

ManderleyBoy

I got a DP 1.1 and the option for 144HZ was not avaliable. I can' seem to understand which displayport I need to connect my 1440p screen to my 3060ti and run it at 144hz too. I see lots of conflicting info and I need help/

DP 1.1  does not support over 60Hz 1440p

The monitor is with DP 1.1?

DP 1.2 would suffice.

I edit my posts more often than not

DisplayPort cables are not rated 1.1, 1.2, etc.. HBR2 capability that was released around the time of DP1.2 is all that's needed for 1440p 144hz at 8bit.

That all being said, most any not-shit quality DP cable can do this today. Try what you have, if it doesn't work buy a new one.

1440p, 144 Hz, 8 bpc requires 14.08 Gbps - You need a GPU and monitor that both support at least DP 1.2 (up to 17.28 Gbps). The 3060 Ti supports DP 1.4a, so that part is covered. We don't know what monitor your have.

You also need a cable that supports at least that bandwidth, which would be a cable that supports HBR2 or better, as was pointed out above. The cable may be marketed as a DP 1.2 cable, even though technically that's incorrect (since cables aren't bound to a specific DP version, they have a maximum supported bandwidth).
