Now, I know there's a significant benefit with intels newer haswell chips in certain games which utilize multi-threading. I've been thinking about switching to intel for quite some time now.

My questions / concerns:

What intel chip should I get to outperform my AMD in heavy AAE rendering / pre-rendering?

In games like arma how many fps can I expect to get (reference to full specs) currently I get 30 on any graphics setting.

Which motherboard?

Also, I ordered an h100 (refurbed for 50$), will this cool the chip you have suggested?

What kind of temps should I expect?

Full Specs (current):

AsRock Fatl1ty 990fx Killer

AMD FX 8350 @ stock

8gb Adata XPG (16 soon, gotta sell my vengeance)

750w Seasonic MII12 80+ bronze

PNY XLR8 120gb ssd (sandforce?)

Random ass hard drives

Corsair h60 (h100 in mail)

PNY XLR8 GTX 770 2gb

and

Corsair C70 Artic White Case.

I plan to get a new PSU and custom paracord sleeving and the define r4 (white) for a blue and white color scheme.

Another note: I'd prefer that the 4/8pin CPU is at the top edge instead of inside a little bit near the north bridge as my cable is a bit short.

Thanks to anyone who helps me out!

Budget: 550$ (for mobo and CPU)

Why'd you order a refurbished AIO? you have a high chance of failure, and the 8350 is no reasonable upgrade to a 4670k in terms of performance, grab another 770 or 780.

Why would I even get an I5, I can get an I7 in my price range. Also because I mount my shit on the bottom so if it fails it will most likely just leak out of the bottom of my case.

A 4770k would outperform the 8350.

What version of Arma? --Look up cpu benchmarks?

For the 4770k, any z87 motherboard would do for a decent gaming oc if you don't need any special features.

Yes, the h100 will do.

Temps depend on the chip.

Does it matter which version of arma? All of them hate AMD.

Yes..it matters.

Mainly Arma 2 and 3, I see that on a lot of forums intel will "50% better" because they're shitty with multi core optimization.

Also is the 4930k worth it at the moment or would you recommend the 4770k?

Like you said, Arma is bad with optimization with multiple cores.

A 4930k would be no better than the 4770k.

In OP I stated I do a lot of heavy AAE rendering. I was wondering how big of a performance increase I'd see compared to a 4770k.

Depends what kind of rendering you're doing. Look up relevant AE benchmarks?

4930K is a waste. Most I can safely recommend without hurting myself is a 4770K.

A 4770K will beat the 8350.

I'm not sure about Arma, so I can't answer that without bullshitting you.

Get a nice Gigabyte Z87 (UD3H or UD4H)

Yes, the H100 will be fine, even though it is a refurb.

Temps depend on the chip.
