Would adding a second 1TB m.2 ( WD_BLUE SN570 1TB M.2 2280 ) driver make me slow down the GPU or maybe the first driver( PCId Lames thing) ? This is a stupid question but I wanted to ask anyway just in case.

PC Specs:

- R5 5600x

-FXF RX6650XT

- MOBO Asus Rog Strix B550-a

- 32GB Ram 3600 CL16

- Samsung MZ-V7S2T0BW SSD 970 EVO    Plus 2 TB M.2 I

-WD Blue 2TB HDD

No, no effect on the 16 PCI-E 4.0 lanes going to the top graphics card slot.

Ryzen 5000-series supplies 24 PCI-E 4.0 lanes.

  • 16 for the PCI-E X16 slot
  • 4 for the top M.2 slot
  • 4 going to the motherboard chipset (in your case to the B550 chipset)

The second M.2 slot is routed through the B550 chipset.

Make sure your WD Blue 2TB HDD is not connected to SATA port #5 or #6.

Using up the second M.2 slot disables those two SATA ports (remaining SATA port #1 ~ #4 is unaffected).

Second M.2 slot runs at PCI-E 3.0 X4 speed max, compared to the primary (top) M.2 slot running at PCI-E 4.0 X4.

Since the SN570 is rated at PCI-E 3.0 X4, you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the clear answers. My plan was to use HDD where to keep data/photos/video and get a new M.2 to install games. I don't need an M.2 Gen4 because I don't benefit from it according to my usage and also because they cost more. (Cuz of that I took the Samsung 970Evo plus 2TB gen3 with a good discount on Amazon)
Thanks again for the quick and effective replies!

no it shouldnt affect it, they are two different components on two different parts of the computer after all, just make sure your mother board supports two ssds

Uhhh they are both on the same part of the computer (the motherboard) . They can and often do affect each other. In this instance, they don't affect each other, but do affect other devices (sata ports).

Computers are highly integrated, not islands of components.
