Budget (including currency): 1500-1800cad (including peripherals)

Country: canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: variety of games. care more about performance than graphics.

Other details: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QWhk2m

totally inexperienced, been learin through yt vids mostly. my goal was to build a decent mid range all-around pc, which I can use to game, but also try my hand at graphic design, editing, coding etc just to see if any catch my interest.

uncertain about a few things in the partpicker list

1. not sure how to really pick out a mobo, i just went with a well rated one that didnt show any compatibility issues

2. is the 1tb ssd enough? I figured I would start with it and if I needed more space buy another, or an external harddrive? read something about keeping the operating system and all your programs on separate storage helps with speeds? but yea idk

3. psu seemed like a good price for 650 gold, but is it worth/necessary spending extra to get an 850 instead? i dont plan on upgrading soon after the build, other than maybe extra ram or storage

4. probably more subjective, but for the monitors would it be smarter to buy 1 nice monitor now and another later down the line, instead of 2 cheaper ones now?

5. anything egregious I'm missing or overlooking? or just any recommendations

thanks!

I have a few questions to help pinpoint the right PC build for you. For coding any standard pc with 6 core or more will do you over while learning to code, but there are other factors that can change your build... so I have to ask these questions first:

What is your preferred budget range for the PC build? Is the current budget range of 1500-1800 CAD (including peripherals) still within your preferred range?

Are you comfortable with any specific brands for the components or are you open to any reliable and reputable brands that fit your budget?

What type of games do you play, and at what resolution and frame rate do you prefer to play them?

What specific programs will you be using for graphic design, editing, and coding? Are they resource-intensive programs? example single or multi core work loads

Do you have any preference for the size or form factor of the PC case?

Do you need any additional peripherals, such as a keyboard, mouse, or speakers?

Do you have any plans to upgrade the PC in the near future, such as adding more RAM or storage, or upgrading to a better GPU or CPU?

1. Well your mobo is good for budget building... and if you want to check compatibility, you can definitely check the manufacturer's website.

2. "Keeping the operating system and all your programs on separate storage helps with speeds?"

Well sometimes yeah and sometimes no. Well the SSD won't give you performance. All it can give you is speed the loading time.

For my suggestion, external HDDs are only USB-A connector types, which have low speeds. If you can, the you can get a higher storage SSD.

3. Well after all it is a Ryzen 5 5600 and a RX 6700XT. I do suggest to get at least a 750w PSU, just in case you don't run out of power for components or simply as a "Reserve" (if you overclocked a bit).

4. Well that's totally your choice. If you want to spend more on performance you may remove one monitor. And if you already have
an old one, you may just use that.

5. Well if you want more performance or less temperatures, you can go for an AIO Liquid Cooler. But if you don't want to mess up with the loops and again the compatible reservoir for you cabinet, you can go for Air Coolers. That is also totally your choice.

Absolutely. While dual monitor setups have changed my life for the better, theyre better off as amenities down the line than the now. And if you dont need a multi-monitor stretch, you wont need to buy the same expensive monitor, just get another cheap one to flip vertically. Vertical display sounds stupid on PC but they make any 4:3 optimized content like Discord, Spotify, and other text heavy application better just from being able to see more of the content without scrolling. Its a huge QoL i miss with my 2x16:9 surround dual monitor setup, honestly.
