Greetings all.

I have a bit of trouble I Like some ideas or help in please.

I have the following:

Motherboard ROG Strix X670-E Gaming WI-FI

* AMD Ryzen 9 7900

Corsair Vengeance DDR5 16Gig x 4

* AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX

1000 Corsair PSU

*All water cooled

I was able to get it to post with memory Training and install windows 11 with no trouble.  The trouble started when 3d Mark, and Blender.  They would both get halfway tough, then suddenly the system would reset, not blue screen of Death, and no windows error.  Hard Crash BOOM.  I have to turn the power off, and then back on.

Upon restarting it would tell me that the CPU is not being see.  When I go to the BIOS it was reset to default, and the time was reset to 01/01/2022 at 00:02.  So I reset everything, with the only changes to time and CPU monitoring.  Ran 3d Mark again.  BOOM  Hard Crash again.  Same result All Bios settings reset back to default.

Removed Memory from 4 to 2 then 1.  Each Time same thing.  Even tried changing the memory around to see if it was one stick killing.  No Luck.

Even set the bios back 1 version, and even reload the current version.  Again same thing.

As of late the system is now doing it even when not under a load, which is strange. I am at a loss for why a news system with ALL new parts should be failing.  They only thing I see that could be the problem is the Motherboard.  I already sent this board to Asus, and they say nothing wrong.  But they do put they can't duplicate the issue.  Gee Really.

The Next thing I might try is running this on another MB with the Radeon on it to test it to make sure it works on this Board.  Test it to see if it crash’s.  Highly dubious if the GPU is the trouble.

I have no other boards to test the CPU on but that doesn’t seem to be the issue.  Memory, only have the 4 sticks of DD5.  All my other systems have DD4.

Suggestions folk.

Thank You

Corsair Vengeance DDR5 16Gig x 4

If I remember right a lot of people have problems with ddr 5 if they plug in more then 2 sticks.

Check with 2 sticks in A2 and b2

Check if your ram is on the supported list.

New generation of hardware means you need to be up to date on your bios version.

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite,  Ryzen 9 3900x, Dark Rock Pro 4, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix  RGB 3600 MHz CL16 RAM, RTX 3080 TI FE Watercooled, 6 Case Fans,  Fractal Design Meshify S2

You are awesome, stay safe and healthy.

check each kit in a two slot config to see they work separately or dial back the speed on the memory to 4800 manually to see if you are still having stability issues.

I have seen many threads about two 2 stick kits having issues with DDR5 when running together unfortunately.

Edited to make some parts clearer

Current Memory installed.

A1: Corsair 16384 4800MHz

A2: Corsair 16384 4800MHz

B1: Corsair 16384 4800MHz

B2: Corsair 16384 4800MHz

CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000)  CMH32GX5M2D6000C36

From what some of you saying is that the current memory I am using, 32 gig is currently the memory of choice with 2 slots to be used.  If I use more their is issues.  That sounds about correct???

----

After Looking at Asus memory.  I feel Like I missed something.  It seems that for what memory size I am looking for I need to get Corsair Dominator (CMT64GX5M2X5600C40) for 64 gig.  But Only 2 sticks not 4 like I have.  The current memory isn't listed as supported.  Something that has changed with DD5 it seems.  All other DD4 builds you got speed, and Amount (4,8,16,32) to your wish.  Seems DD5 is Very Picky.

So the Memory that I have Could be the Prob?? but why would the Bios Crash for a full reset???

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, Sorry but work in the military took over my life again.  Had to work for a spell.  After returning home, I went at this again.

After each replacement I ran 3dMark first, then FurMark.

Replaced the Memory with the recommended memory from ASUS, Boom Crashed the BIOS.

Replaced the M.2 drives with older ones that I have laying around.  CRASHED again.

Replace the CPU that I borrowed from a friend that was the same.  CRASHED again.

Took AMD 7900 XTX out replaced it with Nvidia 2080 I had laying around.  WHAT NO CRASH.

Its been working now in stress mode from 3dmark now for 3 hours.  Still running Great.  Even Cobbled up as it is water cooled, still never got above 50c.  Sent warranty request to AMD.

This is the first time I have seen or heard of a GPU doing this.  If one doesn't work, its at the Get Go.  Not after running for a spell, then Crashing.  Thoughts??

Thanks for all that helped
