Thermal pads on Gigabyte RX580 8GB

No I meant as in how thick should the pads be, not how large.

For a Gigabyte RX580, 0.5mm is used for the memory chips and 1mm for VRMs

I've noticed recently that my gpu has been running a little hot.

I'm planning to take the heatsink off to do some cleaning and repasting, however in fear that I may ruin the factory thermal pads on the vrms and vram chips, I want to buy thermal pads just in case.

I can't find any documentation about how thick the pads should be on the internet, can anyone help?

you can just cut these to match the size of the memory modules then for the actual gpu use thermal paste (preferably something like arctics mx4)

Message me on discord (bread8669) for more help

No I meant as in how thick should the pads be, not how large. Does it matter how thick it is?

Is it possible to use 1mm or 0.5mm for both? I live in a poor country so things are kinda expensive.

No, you'll have uneven pressure and little to no cooling on the memory chips if you use the same size pads. Or you smash the cooler on and risk breaking things.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Hello,

I`m trying to do a complete cleanup for my rx580 and I found another website where the thickness are different thinness than you are using on the board.

I`m just saying this because this is a personal project and don`t want to buy multiple types of thermal pad and not use them.

VRAMs:    0.5mm
Rest of the PCB:    1.5mm
Backplate:    1.5mm
