So in a previous post I was voted to go with a 3060 over Intel arc a770. In a few months I will end up buying a better gpu . I was looking at what ones to get that would run 4k at 60 because that’s my current monitor . So originally I was thinking of the 4070ti , but I saw the 7900xt for same price . Or should I wait for real world testing on the 4070 ? For 600 that’s rumored as of today it sounds decent

a 4k monitor runs at any compatible resolution so you dont have to get a high end gpu , you can run games at 1440 or 1080 as well

I think for a lot of people AMD will be just fine. RTX Nvidia is more refined product, but not everybody needs the better raytracing support or that driver refinement.  If you're going to wait, then wait to see how the games you want to play perform on both cards. AMD and Nvidia have different performance for different games for different reasons.

I personally will be getting a 3070, upgrading from 1070 soon since thats about 400/500 CAD , then in two years i could sell the 3070 for about 300 and get a 4070 for about 500.
Its a good cycle lol.

You'll achieve 60 FPS at native 3840 x 2160 resolution with either the 7900 XT or 4070 Ti. And if you want even more FPS and lower input latency albeit with a small drop in image quality, there's always the upscaling technologies to be taken advantage of in compatible games - FSR (AMD and NVIDIA) and DLSS (NVIDIA only).

to me DLSS is the killer feature. AMD's image reconstruction is not bad anymore but it's not as good either. AMD gets you better performance (with RT off) for the money spent though and I know some people swear by turning off all the "fake resolution" stuff.

but I'm also on the side that doesn't see the point to running a 4k display for gaming.

The 7900XT is about 10% faster according to TechPowerUp, cheaper (at least where I stay) and has 20Gb RAM compared to 12Gb on the 4070Ti. The reason I mention the RAM is that this generation of game, especially console ports is starting to require more VRAM than 8Gb to run ultra settings (see The Last of Us part 1, Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4 remake, Diablo 4 etc). 12Gb is enough to run ultra settings right now but we may see games with higher VRAM requirements in the next few years. Drivers are a non issue on AMD unless you need features like CUDA or something, and the difference between DLSS and FSR 2 is close to meaningless. The 7900XT is a no brainer imo.
