Scenario: I have a desktop PC which I want to use as host (renderer). I want to stream it to my laptop where I will "play" it. On the desktop I have configured the game to use controller already with button mappings done. If I set up streaming, it looks like Steam takes over controller mapping and what it sends to the host is not the same as if I connect the controller to host. Right stick becomes a mouse. I tried Steam controller setting for gamepad. Anyone know how I can send inputs directly without Steam messing around?

At this point I'm wondering if it might be easier if I just use the controller on the host (wireless in range) and use alternate display only streaming. If so, what else could I use to stream? Normal remote desktop software would not be high enough performance.

not having steam launching the game, as directly from .exe or disable overlay and if other options are there.

It's a Steam game, so probably has to be launched via Steam, especially if I'm using Steam to stream it.

Anyway, some minor progress but I've wasted nearly an hour on it now. The screen I was on earlier was the game launcher, and Steam seems to use the alt configuration for desktop. However in game, the buttons are wrong. It feels like when you use XB controller PS config, or reverse. I tried turning on/off the PS/XB settings in Steam controller options to no help. It might work if I revert the game mapping to default but then it'll be wrong if I want to play on host natively. Argh! Why is it so unnecessarily complicated? Just pass it through 1:1 and I'm done.
