Budget (including currency): 2000

Country: USA (Stationed in EU)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: APEX, Last of Us, Cyberpunk, Green Hell. Some Photo editing, Office 2013 Pro, Adobe PDF

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Existing Build: (Link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zW8Vgb )

i7 9700K

Noctua NH-U12S (Black)

MSI Z390 Pro Carbon

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb D4-3000

Samsung SSDs: 970 EVO Plus 500GB & 1TB ; 860 EVO 1TB

EVGA FTW3 Ultra 2070 Super

Cooler Master H500

EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2

So lately I have been having issues with the computer slowing down, and games not wanting to run properly. I just bought Last of Us and I am constantly getting a "lag" while playing. Yes I know its buggy, but it proved to me that its about time to upgrade. I found a EVGA 3090 FTW3 for 850 euros local (think its a decent deal) but i know my CPU is starting to get a little older. So I want to see what others thoughts are on my situation. Should I do a complete new build, or Upgrade CPU, RAM, MB, and GPU. If upgrade should I switch to AMD or stick with the i7 13700k?

I've put together an AM5 build using most of your existing parts. You can choose to upgrade the GPU if you wish.

I think this would be a better parts list. 4080 instead of 2070s and also an ATX 3.0 PSU (helpful if your going 40 series)

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

Do you have a preference on Intel vs AMD?

Why if I wish? I would be getting better frames wouldn't I? Seeing as I only get 50-70 playing most games

I had a 3090 on the list as I found one used for 850 euro's. I feel like that's a decent deal but I havent looked into it yet. been researching MOBO's and stuff lol

Which is due to the 5 year old 9700k bottlenecking the system. "If you wish" means if you have the budget, go with the best GPU you can get - performance can only increase. PcBeExpensive above suggests the 4080 in his build - that's a good choice as well as the 4070, if you can wait until release.

The 7900 xtx is just as good for a cheaper price than a 4080

There is a bit of different in the cards but they are very equal. But i think 4080 would be better for the games OP is pkaying. Cyberpunk would run better on 4080 than 7900 xtx

no point going AM5 if your not going 40 series or 7000 series. If your going with a 3090 just get a 5800x3d, no point for a 7700x.

Its true im more prone to go Intel/NVIDIA due to thats what i know. But im open to try other things. Ive been an android user my since android came out and i just bought my first iphone less than 2 months ago.. cant hate on something that i dont know much about. Also alot of this computer stuff confuses me. So half the time I just look at what looks to have the best specs.

I thought about that cpu. but i was wondering since its been out for a while it will be an old dog like my 9700k. I would like to help future proof myself as much as I can now. I would go 40 series but the whole wiring cable fiesta and the massive size makes me not want anything to do with it.

i want to upgrade my case as well to the HYTE 60 and do a custom water loop. I think it would be fun. Just cant get the case shipped to me without spending 200+ just on shipping. If i can find it local without the huge price inflation that Europe has I might do that but for the most part getting parts here is more expensive than just waiting til next year when im back home.

No need for custom water loop, far to overkill, would only be helpful for ascetics

It won’t. The 7900 xtx is equal, if not better than the 4080, and the 4080 is noticeably better than the 3090. If you get the 7900 xtx however, you can get it new and with a warranty. Where did you do your research? User benchmark? If so, than you are using a heavily biased and a inaccurate program.

the wiring is not a problem with the cards. It's user error. If you plug it in fully you will be fine, TBH most 40 series cards can fit in most cases. I just checked, it will fit into the ccase you have gone with.
