My brother offered to sell me his laptop for $3000 (around 300usd). It's an ASUS laptop (not sure what exact model) with an i3 2330M, 8gb of ram and I think Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits. I know this is kind of vague so;

is the i3-2330M decent?

My PC has an i5 3570K and honestly I don't even need a laptop (I'm actually planning on buying a Nexus 7 2nd gen (32gb one) which is $4300, so it's more than the laptop), but I want to know if it'd be a sensible purchase, considering the cheapest Asus laptop with an i3 in my country (brand new) is $6700+, meaning $3000 is less than half what a new one would be.

Although I kinda still prefer getting the tablet (I never had an android device + it's more portable than a laptop), I THINK it's a good deal anyway.

So. repeating what I said before, is the i3-2330M a decent cpu for stuff like web browsing and watching videos (Idk what the resolution is but I'd assume 768p) and MAYBE playing games? (Indie games like Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac, etc, not too graphically intensive)

(btw is this in the right section of the forums? I just saw that there was a "mobile devices" section and gaming isn't the focus of this post) Sorry if I screwed up. Change it to the correct place if necessary.

Note: I made a new post under CPU section asking specifically about the cpu in this post. However, I don't know how to delete this and just deleting the text may end up in a blank post ._. so, I apologize for my brain fart)

Well it will run everything you mentioned. CPU itself is fairly low compared to todays standarts i.e. i5. 4200m/ i7 4702m. I would go for tablet. Unless you are studying and you wont reach pc everyday.

Laptop: Acer V3-772G  CPU: i5 4200M GPU: GT 750M SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB
DesktopCPU: R7 1700x GPU: RTX 2080 SSDSamsung 860 Evo 1TB

Well my father has an Acer laptop with a 2370M processor. It's iGPU is pathetic and fails to run Simcity(2014) or Call of Duty 4 at the lowest settings possible, even if I scale down the resolution at 720p.
It would be best if you go with a haswell mobile processor, If you want light gaming along with work.

Humpty Dumpty was pushed.

Yes, it will run most things just fine. Also, 8gb or ram will allow you to multitask well. Windows is 64 bit so you will be able to install editing programs like Sony Vegas Pro or Adobe Premiere (but they won't run great). Unless it has a discrete video card, you won't be able to run too many games (at least at playable fps).

IMO, a tablet might be better for you (even more if you actually want it). Nexus 7 2nd gen is a great choice and, unless you need complex programs like Photoshop, you'd be better off with a tablet (more versatile, easier to use, possibly faster etc.).

People who plug their computer keyboards into hi-fi systems aren't idiots - that would be stereotyping.

It's okay, but it stinks. For web browsing, and a little Plants vs. Zombies it would be fine.
