No video output, but fans are spinning

I lost my IO shield a while back, so I bought one last week and installed it today. After that, my GPU stopped producing a video output. Tried reseating RAM, using different PCI cables, installing the GPU on the second slot, resetting the mobo battery… 

 

I don’t know what to do at this point. The fans seem to work, but there’s no light coming from my GPU, although I forgot if I disabled it that light or not.

 

Any suggestions?

Update: tried with another GPU, fans are spinning, lights are on, still no video output.

I have two and it works with neither

Do you have another motherboard? It sounds like there has been some damage to the PCIE slot.

I tried with both PCIe slots though.

Are you using HDMI or a DP cable. See if the cable is the issue.

DP, and they should be fine, worked like a charm up until now, but I still tried with a HDMI cable and no luck

You said that you replaced the IO shield. Is there anything that is stuck in the DP port on the GPU? Or is there anything obstructing it?

Hmm no, both ports are clear and I have no issues plugging the cables in

It seems like you have tried a lot of things already. You mentioned that you installed an IO shield last week and after that your GPU stopped producing a video output. You also mentioned that the fans seem to work but there’s no light coming from your GPU.

Based on what you have tried so far, it seems like there might be some damage to your GPU. You might want to consider taking it to a professional for repair or replacement. I'm Sorry but I don't think I can be of any more help. If there is anything else I can do please let me know.

On my second comment I stated that I tried a GPU that is 100% sure to work in my rig and it still had the same issue. It can’t be the GPU.

Then It has to be the motherboard somehow.

Doesn't matter. The Motherboard could function perfectly but just have that one issue. Also you have integrated graphics? If so then try using the DP from ur mobo to see if it is capable of even displaying a signal.

I don’t have integrated graphics, I’m using a 5800X3D. Could it be that the new IO Shield shorted the motherboard somehow?

Possibly but it is unlikely.

Then I don’t see any other possible issue…

I ordered a new motherboard, let’s hope that’ll fix it. Thank you for your help!

 

If anyone else has other ideas, in case the new motherboard doesn’t fix it, please let me know!

It was indeed the motherboard. 

Got a nice upgrade as well, my old mobo didn't support frontal Type C or Gen 4 M2. Not ready for AM5 yet though.
