Rog phone 5

Ive mostly ignored gaming phones as theyre usually stupid expensive but rog phone 5 are now going for as low as 330$ used, processor of the 11t pro with the refresh rate of the 10t pro at the same price as said 11t pro

 

im mostly interested in the control surfaces because keymapper is buggy as shit with stuff that only requires a single keypress, in mc change view works just fine but if i wanna use item i have to press the button 2 times, first to use, 2nd to reset the button and make it usable again, and also latency

 

performance is #1 priority and i do not want any throttling garbage either because bullshit temp limits "for comfort of the user" and not letting the cpu hit 90c+ or bullshit power limits. Though ill be rooting the phone anyways so i dont mind running one of those root apps that can control cpu governor if thottling is an issue

 

 

Whats your experience with the rog phone 5 or any other rog phones? Especially anyone that has rooted or run custom rom, Im open to looking at other gaming phones if they got extra control surfaces

Rooting it won't be a problem, but I don't think there was really much development for any of the ROG phones to speak of?  So I'm not sure a custom ROM will be an option.

 

OnePlus hasn't been a good option either for custom ROMs since the 9. At this point I believe for custom ROMs and new devices the safest bet is the Pixel devices. There are some for Samsung, but they are a complete mess, and in some cases you have to make sure you get specific region models, etc.

I mainly care about performance so as long as rooting is able to get rid of retarded throttling behaviour then its fine without custom rom
