So currently I am running a GTX 570 card and I kind of want to start planning for an upgrade mainly to handle my upcoming monitor upgrade.

I will need a card to handle a 3440 x 1440 resolution, either by single HDMI or displayport.

Now in terms of my usage, I seldom play games in full screen, only when I really want an immersion.

For me I want to have a lot of realstate so that I can watch a video, while playing a game, while having a browser window open.  This is not that easy on my current 24 but I manage to get at lest 2 of those done at once.

I also use my monitor for 99% of my video consumption, be it streaming movies/tv shows, to youtube, or twitch streams, etc.

This brings me to the question at hand.

I was thinking of going to either the GTX 770 or GTX 780 and since i recently found out the 6GB version since it is said to only be 30 more expensive than the 3 GB version.

The question is, is the increase in price from the 770 to 780 worth the extra 150-200 US?

Originally I was thinking of waiting for the 800 series but who knows when that will be out and I would like to start making plans and start purchasing soon as I know both the monitor and vid card are not going to be cheap so want to space them out as much as possible.

What do you guys think?  770 and save some $$ or go for the 780 or just sit tight and wait for the 800 series to come out?

My current setup just in case:

i5 2500k

16 GB of RAM

256 Samsung Pro

256 Crucial M500

WD RE2 2TB

EVGA GTX 570

If I remember correctly, the 780 is has 14% more performance over the 770. That would be reference cards. At 1440p, if you can afford the 780, go for it. If you get the 770, you will have to upgrade a lot sooner because you are at 1440p.

Thanks,

Now the next question, will my old Corsair 620 W PSU be enough?

2x SSDs, 1 HDD, i5 2500k.

I think i should be OK, but wanted to get your guys ideas.

I'm no expert on PSU's but I'm pretty sure hard drives and ssd's use very minimal watts even when in use. I think that 620w is enough and just maybe enough to overclock a little bit. But again, not an expert :)
