Crossfire tips?

Just installed my second graphics card and was wondering if anyome had tips on how to better optomize and etc... also does anyone know how to enable crossfire on arma 2 operation arrowhead? Tried testing it out on that and found its not supported

arma isnt well optimized for anything.

Some people say that by using both CrossFireX bridges you get a marginal performance increase of 1-2 FPS, but I cannot confirm this.

It is supported. Have you reinstalled the AMD drivers?

its a badly optimized game and likely wont make the most out of crossfire, the bridge thing is likely bullsh*t, modern cards dont needit so having 2 wont makea blind bit of difference.

Arma 3 runs like crap too, BI doesn't know how to optimize. That being said, Arma games have always been more CPU bound than GPU bound so running crossfire even if it was supported wouldn't gain as much performance as having a good CPU clocked to within an inch of it's life.

 

As far as optimization goes just turn on Xfire and play, there isn't really much tweaking to be done unless you start making custom game profiles in the control panel but idk if AMD has that feature to the same extent that Nvidia does.

oh really? i have run arma 3 on a 7770, 7850 and soon my r9 270, its a pretty well made game, its just as demanding as crysis3 (seriously, like neck and neck) but with the details up it looks amazing (unlike arma 2 which looks like skyrim).

im not saying crossfire will give 100% scaling in arma 3 (again, will be crossfiring my 7850 with my r9-270 once i get a new psu) but it will give some benefit even if its only +50% but im guessing thats a low estimate.

havent done it yet, ive had a cheap powercool 650w modular in my spare rig for ages and after 2 years service i just popped it with a gtx480 so seeing as im selling my current rig im going for a corsair RM750 (yes i know its overckill, yes i know it has cheap caps but it has a 5 year warranty and its silent...).

untill then i cant run crossfire, only reason im doing it is because im not selling my 7850 with my current rig and until my missus buys it im going to have it knocking around so i mgihtaswell do some tests to try and debunk all the naysayers who claims amds scaling is bullcr*p and that no games use it and that arma3 etc is cpu bound because they read it somewhere on another thread on another forum written by someone who read it from some thread on another forum....none of which have actually tested it for themself.

edit: i could put my current psu in my spare rig to test it but i only have a few games installed on my ssd in that rig and im not great at loading games from a different drive plus i cant be bothered if im honest, i should be getting the new psu in a few days. (canceled my order for an 8320 when the psu popped, now waiting to be repaid-bad times)

id still recommend trying arma 3 somehow :rolleyes: ....and see for yourself
