Right now I have a UPS, but they are pretty bad. I don't get super-long runtimes and in a world where a macbook pro can run for a day I think I deserve better than 2hrs on a giant lead acid battery.

Are there any battery systems that are designed to power DC devices, so you avoid the shit that is DC->AC and AC->DC conversion?  Are there any devices that are worth my time?

there's *one* UPS i know of that is made for this purpose, but if i recall the battery on it was tiny, so runtime may be limited anyways.

past that, there's systems that have a DC output, but they arent necessarily propper regulated 12vdc.

That sounds like a power bank to me, but I don't know any cheapish ones that have a 12V DC output, unless you are willing to do some hackery with USB PD. Keeping the battery at 100% all the time isn't great for Li-Ion batteries either, I feel like designing something around a lead acid battery would be the best option. Or scouring Aliexpress and Ebay for a ready made thing.

So a normal ups?
I have one for my router and modem. I’d use one for a security system as well.

You can get a UPS that will run for 10 hours, you'll just have to pay a lot for it. Most consumer UPS are made to deal with momentary power loss and give you time to safely shutdown if power is out longer.

If you are going to have 10 hour power outages chance are your ISP local hub is effected too. And they will run on a generator, which is what you would use for prolonged outages.
