Headphone recommendations

I'm looking for some new headphones. My budget is 100$ but lower is better. I want some headphones that are durable and have some surround sound.

So far as I know surround sound in headphones is a gimmick, I haven't tried them but don't like the idea and hear a lot of people say that it just doesn't work.

 

In theory you are trying to put multiple drivers into each ear cup when for the same price you could put two higher quality drivers instead.

 

Also surround sound isn't supported in very many games so it's kind of a waste IMO.  But then again I have an old man take on things, not a fan of wireless, surround or "gaming" headphones.

 

If you want to look at something that isn't surround, I can suggest the Phillips Fidelio X2HR for $100
