cheap nas setup

so i want to set up a nas i have a buget of 200

i curntly dont have anything so will requier nas and drives if posible

In any case, that amount of money wont get you far, especially if you dont have the drives. I would highly recommend saving up significantly more.

First of all decide what you want. How much capacity do you want? how redundant you want your NAS to be? what you will be doing? how involved you want to be in the process of setting it up?

you can get some shit done with ~250 usd and some thrifty ebay skills

They are excellent machines, it has a huge fan that pushes air slowly through the system, keeping it nice and cool. Start with the drives that come with it, and swap them for new ones at a rate of one per year (keep doing this indefinately)

 

I run unraid on mine, with a couple of docker container. it works like a charm

Look around, you might find better deals, I see there is one with 2x 3tb drives in the UK
