I need help on amd software

Go to solution Solved by dunprek,

what software do you mean? amd adrenaline software? if its yes, you should remove driver software using DDU -> display driver utility.

  • Download DDU.
  • put it on your desktop.
  • install it.
  • go to safe mode option(im assuming you using windows 10 / 11 - try google it) -> (choose option number 4 or 5 on safe mode options)
  • on the safe mode, run DDU, uninstall amd, it will reboot automatically once done uninstalling.
  • download https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-131 amd autodect software
  • run it, it will detect your processors / display an others automatically and  install each options according your needs.
  • done.

hope this helps.

No. Uninstalling software driver won't brick your laptop's DGPU or IGPU.
This process only effects on the software level, which your Processor / GPU needed to be able to run better with it's unique specifications.
Moreover if you using windows 10/11, by default the os already comes with drivers needed for your hardware, software installation, going to make it runs better.

to be more precise, what laptop do you have, brand, series /types? ?

for example, lets say I have this laptop,  ASUS ROG STRIX G15 G513RC.
this laptop has AMD Ryzen 7 6800H processor -> with iGPU AMD Radeon 680M and  dGPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050.

so, I need to install driver for igpu with AMD autodetect software that i've mention above. once it's done, I need to install NVIDIA  display drivers aswell.

by default, these laptops already separate the usage of  iGPU and dGPU.  low level task, displaying ui in  your  desktop, usually using iGPU.
when high load /intense graphic needs, such as gaming, laptop going to use dGPU for better performance.

But you can also switch it on / or -> iGPU only or dGPU only from laptop bios,  which is not recommended.

possible solution would be:

  • go to safe mode, uninstall AMD driver using DDU,  windows will automatically reboot after its done.
  • go to safe mode again, uninstall NVIDIA drivers using DDU, windows will automatically reboot after its done.
  • install amd driver using autodetect software, install nvidia driver using autodetect software by nvidia
  • or
  • you could actually get the driver from your manufacturer which is LENOVO, match it with your laptop specs,  from here, https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/

So with the lenovo drivers do i still need to use ddu to remove the driver and go to safe mode at the same time

Sometimes there is still leftover files when user only using uninstall menu from windows, then here comes DDU.
The main purpose of using DDU is to cleanly uninstall Display related driver on system ( Pc or Laptop).

So, later on if you would like to uninstall Display related driver, you could use DDU, or uninstall menu from windows.

Have you tried the suggested solution above?
