The Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor with BIOS version 1004. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU. Make sure you are using a BIOS version that supports the CPU.

Yes exactly. You can put your old working CPU in the motherboard, but you do not need to do that with your ASUS board! You can go into your motherboard BIOS and check your current BIOS version before you start, you can let me know what version you are using and I can find out if you need to update or not.  Your motherboard support EZ FLASH BIOS update without needing a CPU!.  At the back of your motherboard you should see a USB port with a BIOS text on it.  Use a clean USB drive and follow the steps in this youtube video from ASUS, and you can update the BIOS. You can download the latest BIOS ( skip the beta one ) Here from this website. That would be version 2806.  If you have any questions before you start, let me know 🙂
