So for the past 2 weeks I've been having weird experiences usually right before falling asleep, or really weird dreams.

For example, 3 days ago before falling asleep I started to hear a few voices talking in slow-motion and muffled sound, didn't really seem as if it was in any particular language that I understood.

A week ago I was trying to sleep and I 'heard' a large boom/bang noise which freaked me out, but it was only me.

Could it be stress related? Finals are starting up at my University and I feel as if I am pushing myself out of my bounds stress wise.

PS: I know you guys aren't doctors, just wondering if anybody ever had a similar experience.

Have you looked into sleep paralisys, sounds like the stage when youre body is trying to see if youre brain is ready to sleep.

Google for a more in depth explanation, but you might be able to lucid if so desired?

i think there is a doctor on the forums or a intern

I have actually experienced sleep paralysis once a year ago, but it was when I was waking up, not falling asleep. Anyway I read that high levels of stress can stimulate these things to happen.

As for the lucid dream, I think I have had one where I was in the future, but nothing seemed logical.

There's a definite line of being crazy and there's tons of kinds of crazies ranging from being really mentally disturbed like most serial killers, suffering and untreated like what John Nash was like, or just "unique" and radical like Lady Gaga.

Anyway, from what I know, stress can do really weird things to you and it may seem like you might be developing schizophrenia or any other disorders and illness when in reality you're not. Maybe you are developing something severe or maybe you're not. If it's really stress, then try to relax and see if things become less crazy. Counselors, friends, and family could also help. Maybe you could just talk to them about what's going on and that might take off whatever's on your shoulders. If those don't work, then maybe you should talk to a counselor and doctor and they might recommend a therapist or something.

I never felt stress. That is, I didn't "feel" it, but recently, I realized and found out that my body and emotional well-being were torn down to the point where I changed from being the indifferent, smart, flippant jackass to a nervous, broken-down, pathetic, frustrated, and afraid, little kid who has no idea where he stands anymore. So, kids, don't bottle up your emotions and don't drive yourself to the ground even if you can't feel your body's about to give out and drop dead.

As for finals and pretty much anything that goes on in life: just do your best and give it your all. Don't worry about failing, getting the right grade, or whatever. If you know that you studied, did your work, etc., then there's nothing to worry about. Every exam, test, and quiz I took in my life were just dive ins and done to the best of my ability - I never or rarely studied. Usually, I did well, but when I failed or did poorly, then I knew that I was at fault - I slacked off in chemistry and I received the grades justified by my actions.

Also, just because you did poorly on something, doesn't mean that's it. What do you do when you fall or get knocked down? Lay there and hope to die or get up and continue on? I sure hope that you don't accept defeat. Every failure is a victory since you can learn from it. Sometimes, too much success is not good since you don't learn much compared to seeing your problems, mistakes, and faults so you can improve and fix them.

Thanks for everyones replies, especially @Hidden Orange reply.

As these have only been isolated incidents, and since I haven't been getting enough sleep, I think I just need to get some more rest and relaxation.

Well, isolated incidents can lead up to common occurrences. So, take care and don't ignore anything that feels "iffy" like I did.
