Players without ships?

Well,I know that probably most of the people that have already bough the game probably have life insurance for their ships,but im fairly sure that was just a backers bonus and that people that join in afterwards are gonna have to pay for that insurance,witch makes me think that it is in fact possible to lose all of your ships,witch brings me to the topic I got curious about,will those people who lost their ships be the gigantic crews big ships like the capital ones or even the smaller but still crew require ships will have?

 

Because im thinking that with the whole game structure,where you can have players taking others ship´s and some people being able to lost all of their´s there is a high possibility of a lot of players playing the game completely grounded,witch is interesting because it would bring a whole new dimension to the game,not only can you be a successful spaceship driver or commander,you could also be a mercenary,an infantry troop,or hell who knows,maybe have some more boring jobs on the planets,and some players will offer transportation services for those who lost their own´s and are working on getting them back?

 

that would actually be super rad,but if that was the case the dev team would also have to work on a lot of more land mechanics,and missions that don't involve flying on ships and why not,I don't know,maybe they have already talk about this and I dint hear,what do you guys say?

Well... this is going to be a MMORPG. There will be tons of jobs to do that don't involve a space ship. And you can rent them among other things.

That's the purpose of having ships be "gone" and needing insurance. Even with LTI or normal insurance, the respawn time for your ship will be hours (IIRC). So either way, you take a break or you do odd jobs for people until you get it back.

Yes, but you won't have jurisdiction over the rest of the space bathroom, because thats my territory. I'm the official space bathroom manager and acquisitions head. I'm in charge of funding for space bathrooms, and acquiring other space rooms to be turned into space bathrooms.

Well what ever floats your guys boats clean away... I could be wrong but I think it has been mentioned somewhere (10 for the chairman I think) that you will have ways to gain a bit of money to re purchase a ship through hiring out your services as a gunner or so on or as others have said hire a cheap banger until you make some cash.

 

Personally I think that the Insurance, at least basic insurance, will not be expensive. this is from a gameplay point of view, say you are not able to pay the insurance and your ship is blown up, how likely are you to carry on playing. For the more specialised insurance and item insurance I can see it getting a bit more costly.

What would be real cool for players without ships is a rent or lease option.  That way you could get steady work while you pay off your ship.  But of course you end up paying more for your ship over time and the insurance is mandatory and more expensive.
