Best 780?

What is the best preforming and or  cooling GeForce GTX 780 card? Not as much worried about looks.

Gtx 780 Classified or lightning, I believe it's impossible to get ahold of a lightning I think they stopped production on them.

Not really... It works and as long as you don't over torque the screws your fine but i stripped a screw hole which made me mad. It gets good performance though. I usually idle 3-4 C over room temp

Yeah I was wondering about the Lighting 780s... it's a shame, they're one of the best looking with backplate and the blue leds.

Not really... It works and as long as you don't over torque the screws your fine but i stripped a screw hole which made me mad. It gets good performance though. I usually idle 3-4 C over room temp

Yeah I was wondering about the Lighting 780s... it's a shame, they're one of the best looking with backplate and the blue leds.

 

I think all the production has been stopped on all lightning cards, because they're working on the next gen or something, I'm not 100% sure.

 

Only a few websites have them left, micro center HAD them but it was in store only I believe

Ok from my EXPERIENCE its is only a few degrees above ambient temp on idle,

Keep in mind most people will only have first hand experience with one brand of 780. The fact Gigabyte, Asus, MSI and EVGA are all very popular to me at least indicates they are all very good and there's not a huge amount to separate them.

I'll go ahead and say the best 780 is NOT anything from EVGA.

 

I have been shopping for a 780 myself and the EVGA cards weren't even on my list for the following reasons:

 

- The ACX card is more expensive than the cards from ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte, etc. and does not perform any better unless it is;

- A Classified which is even more expensive than the ACX.

- Does not include a backplate. Seriously, for $500 I am expecting a GPU to come at least with a backplate. Thank you very much ASUS!

 

I feel some people suggest EVGA cards purely for their looks. I'll admit the fan covers look pretty slick on EVGA cards, but it's a side which you'll never see in your case, so what's the point in that then?

 

In the end I chose for ASUS to match my other parts in my build.
