BOTW / TOTK release dates

I wasn't playing much videogames in 2017. AFAIK BOTW came out the same day on both WiiU and Switch (the day the switch came out), correct me if I'm wrong.

I like this game (although ALTTP will remain my GOAT, for some reason) and I'm looking forward to its sequel.

TOTK is supposed to come out next May, but it won't be linked to the release of the next console from Nintendo (not expected until end of 2023 or end of 2024, depending on the various rumors).

 

End of 2023 would be the more controversial option for me in the sense that I'd rather wait for the new console to come out and then buy TOTK for it rather than buy TOTK on Switch and then buy it again on the new console only a few months later (I realize that this is the core of Nintendo's business plan: have their customers purchase games multiple times )

 

Now, since TOTK would not come out on the same day on 2 different platforms, I guess there's a(n unlikely?) possibility that N won't port it to the next console right away and rather rely on more modern titles when the next console launches.

 

I understand that nobody can predict the future and we should wait and see but what are your opinions on this topic?

 - buy asap and play on switch only (there will be other more appealing games on the next console, TOTK will be old news by then)

 - buy twice (heck we only live once, right?)

 - wait and buy on the next platform (who can waste a dollar or any time playing on subpar HW?)
