HELP ME!!!!!! networking stuff

Go to solution Solved by Skiiwee29,

According to the router specs, its only a 10/100mbps LAN port. This is why. Does not support Gigabit connections thus you will be limited to around 90mbps maximum.

I have a 300mbps fiber optic AIRTEL connection for my home but the router provided only covers one room.
So, I have run a CAT 6 cable from the main Airtel(NOKIA) modem to a TP-link Archer C-60 router placed near the middle of my house. The archer does cover the house fully BUT the network speed I receive from the Tp link router is 80-90 mbps.  I am a complete beginner when it comes to such things so please tell me what can I do to get 300mbps from the 2nd router

Man, what a weird thing for a router to cheap out on.

Its actually a lot more common than you realize on SOHO routers.

Beat me to it! Definitely seems like TP-Link is trying to play into the "wireless everything" vision of the future. Sucks as there's still plenty of situations that call for a wired connection.

🥲 indeed

what if... you use the tp-link as a relay AP rather than creating a different subnet with it, go into the settings and look for bridge/wds mode

would still be locked to the 100mbps since the WAN port is 10/100 as well.

Yah if both devices support WDS then that would be the simplest way forward to repeat the signal and bypass the physical link limitations. Might not be amazing increases in speed but should bypass the 100Mbps limit at least by a bit.

i have two options for you, both are worth it for their price tbh

1. Xioami 4A (2 Gigabit LAN Ports with Dual Band Wifi)

2. Dlink AX1500 (cheapest wifi 6 router with some compromises)
