Anyone come across this happening? Just recently started on my system. This will appear in random spots on my screens (triple monitors) at random times. If it does it over text, sometimes I can highlight the text and whatever is written will be legible.

AMD 5950x, Tuf x570, Tuf 3080ti, Trident Z CL16 32gb.

- I've updated all Nvidia drivers, backdated, clean installed etc

- Updated bios

- All of windows is up-to-date (did that prior to GPU and BIOS updates to avoid any overwriting)

No issues with temps during idle or gaming. PBO is not active.

Any idea what the cause is? It'll happen at random times and I haven't been able to narrow down exactly what causes it. Doesn't necessarily happen during any loads etc.

Any help would be appreciated :)

So it never happens when gaming or watching a full screen video?

I have something similar happening with my RTX 3060ti but not to this extent. It usually just breaks videos in browser and messes up the tabs of the browser.

I was able to completely fix this (in Chromium browsers... in my case, Vivaldi browser) by going to:

vivaldi://flags (if you have Chrome then chrome://flags)

and setting Choose ANGLE Graphics Backend to OpenGL... and you need to restart the browser for it to apply after.

but if this also happens to you outside of web browsing then I have no idea besides the VRAM perhaps throwing errors or some other issue with GPU

I'll give this a shot. Come to think of it, I'm not sure it does it anywhere other than when using a browser, but now you've got me thinking.

I'll have to pay attention when using other stuff now, never thought it could be browser related.

It happens during that as well. But will also happen at a random time like going through emails with no games or full screen videos going.

Sounds like a deeper issue with the graphics card then.

There is still a chance that only the display cable is bad. I recommend to unplug the secondary monitors and try using just one, change cables if this happens.

I'll definitely try it when it happens again. It's very intermittent so I can't replicate it or know when it's going to happen.

Although it'll happen on all 3 of the screens, not specific to just one.

I had all 3 screens glitching out because just one screen had a bad cable.

NVIDIA does video output in a weird way vs AMD, it's like the outputs are "shared" in something like a "virtual output" ... idk how to really describe it but bad signal in the cable will not really always cause image loss but it may introduce weird behaviour across multiple screens. I had both artifacting (mostly around some text, it was still readable but shimmery) and I also had random flickers even on screens with good cables when the one with bad one was connected.

Yea, definitely going to try swapping to a known good cable when it happens to see if that eliminates it.
