What are you building that needs a 1000w psu where you can't afford a new PSU?!?

Aside custom cables or something that will probably cost as much as a new PSU, you're not going easily to find cables that fit that PSU.

Cooler Master uses universal connectors. So you can look around and find some cables that matchup to the PSU.

Whoa there, buddy. "Universal connectors" here could be really misleading. There is no universal standard that applies to all or even most PSU's... every manufacturer tends to use their own cables, and mixing and matching is how you make the famous "magic smoke" and then build a new PC.

@Mal707 The best way to determine which PSU's use the same cables and what will be safe to use is to consult CableMod's compatibiltiy chart.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

There is no such thing as a universal connector, pinout on the PSU is different per manufacturuer and even within their own lineups. Telling someone to buy generic stuff is a surefire way to get someone to blow up their stuff.

That's why I had said to find some cables that matchup.

But you didn't. You said "Cooler Master uses universal connectors," which gives the impression there's some "universal" connector standard, so at best he'll go off on a wild goose chase trying to find something that doesn't exist and at worst he'll buy cables that will fry all his shit.

Gives no info on how to determine if cables "match up." Many cables will physically fit but are not electrically compatible.

That's what I had said.

Yes, we can all read it, we quoted it in our replies, in fact.

At first I thought you had just expressed yourself poorly and gave a misleading idea by mistake but now I'm starting to suspect you just don't actually know what you're talking about.

But where do you want to use a 10 year old PSU for? These units (Seasonic KM3 inside) have issues with recent high-end GPUs.

I didnt realize it was 10 years old I was going to use it on a 6950xt and a 12700k but I rather spend the extra chunk of money and be safe if it was only 2 or 3 I may have tried to find a way but fuck that

I was wanting to keep the one I had now but and I'd even be okay with limiting the power draw on the parts

750 watts would be plenty for running everything at stock, if you wanted to do a mild overclock on the GPU you could probably get away with that too but I wouldn't go crazy or anything and you'll be fine.

is there anyway for me to get cables that will work with this psu?

Granted it was with a really good power supply, a Corsair SF600, but I ran a 12900k and a 6800 xt for a long while on a 600W power supply.

About 70 watts more in your system for the GPU if left stock, and about 100W less total system draw for the CPU if left stock. There isn't a good way to measure just CPU power consumption so we have to go off of total system draw. That 750w will do fine if it's a good power supply.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.
