I am novice at best at using Windows. Is there a native screenshot manager for Win 11?

The way I currently take a screenshot is hitting PrtSn then pasting it into ms-paint. The way I would prefer to do it is to hit the key, or shift + PrtSn, crop, and then save it automatically with date and time as file name in ~\Pictures\screenshots - is this possible? How would I got about setting this up?

Windows key + prtSn it will save it to Pictures/screenshots

Windows+ shift+ S it opens up Snipping tool and you can take pretty much any screen shot from that

is there a way to combine them, so I can crop and automatically save?

The naming on win+prtSn isnt great, but the default from win+shift+s was great, only it seemed like a lot of steps to save it.

that isnt possible. use it when you want a perticular spot of the screen. and if you want the whole screen Windows+prtsc will do just fine  snipping tool will copy the image into your clipboard so you can just press Ctrl+ V to paste it into most places

There are plenty. Greenshot, Lightshot and ShareX are the first few that come to mind if you need more robust features.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

You can set Windows to open Snipping Tools when you hit Print-Screen key.

Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard > "Use the Print screen button to open screen snipping"

When you use Snipping Tool (Win+Shift+S or Print Screen with the above option enabled), you can select if you want to take a picture of:

  • A window
  • Full Screen
  • An area that you define (rectangle)
  • Draw a shape/circle/any shape (Form form)

You can also add a delay before taking the picture, and soon, you'll be able to record your screen or segment of it or a window in video form.

Once a screenshot is taken, you can click on the notification of Windows that will tell you it took the screenshot, and from there you can draw, crop, highlight,
