Budget (including currency): 5000$ cad

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 4K, 1440p and streaming

Obviously with the new gpus and CPU’s from AMD, I was considering making myself a pc as a refresher/upgrade to my old one. I know the 7900xtx has +300w tdp, and the 7850x3d (or whatever it’s called) will most likely have a +150w tpd. With that, I was searching for the best psu (80 plus gold minimum). I was also wonder if 32GB is enough or is 64GB better (6000Mhz). I’m also planning on having a custom water loop with lots of rgb (duh)

or you could look at the new 24GB or 48GB DDR5 modules from Micron.

I didn’t know micron has 24 and 48GB modules. But what is a good 1000w 80plus gold psu?

The 24 & 48GB modules aren't out yet - but they will be soon.

See the Power Supply Tier List. And take a look at Tier-A and -B. But Basically Seasonic, Corsair, EVGA are usually good bets. If your considering an Nvidia GPU then a unit with the new 12V-High Power connector will make things cleaner.

Regarding RAM, 32GB is enough for now - keep the other two slots in reserve for when games get really crazy.

Which mobo do you want? How about storage? With your budget, I'd say get 2 2TB PCIe 4x4 NVMe SSDs. If you need to store old data from streaming or whatever, get another drive for that.

Definitely look at the PSU Tiers List, although there's lots more great ones in Tier A than just the 3 Gorgon mentioned. Also, keep in mind that Cybenetic Lab's rating system is superior to the 80+ system, so look at that instead.

What are your hopes for a case and are you artistic?

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
