Not all fans are working after change

Go to solution Solved by eeernests3,

So I swapped all 3 to the newer ones and they do work, do not know if they all need to be the same, or only the ones who shared same 4pin connector.

Hello! So I bought a used GPU (gigabyte geforce rtx 3080 gaming oc) a while ago, and one of the fans had a noisy bearing but working. Swapped the broken bearing fan with a new one, put it in the PC and only one fan spun and at full speed. From 2 not working fans one of them is the new one and other one was the old. Both of them combine into single wire/connector, and the new one is a bit different fan, in picture old and new left to right(0.5A and 0.55A).

What could be the problem;

  • Do I need the same types of fans if they share connector?
  • Is the new fan compatible with the GPU? So far as I can tell it should be.
  • Or did I break something?

Thank you in advance!

Should have gone with the same fans as they were. The new fan maybe has a different startup voltage.

Most cards spin the first fan to the max when they detect issues with one or more fans.
