5900X+5700XT @ 1440p 144Hz ~ GPU upgrade options?

191x7

Imagine you had the hardware mentioned in the title and you were going to upgrade the GPU in the next few months, which GPU would you go for (or which performance range)?

Radeon RX 6800? RX 6950XT? Geforce RTX 3080? Or maybe lower, a Radeon 6750XT / RTX 3070 range?

The bottleneck should be considered, and demanding multiplayer games, gaming.

if you are just at 1440p 144hz, 3080/6900XT is pretty much all you would need. even 240hz you should be fine for the shooters. Adjusting settings and such even better. If you want a 3070/ 6700xt those would be fine, depending on price and if you need shadowplay and such at all.

That 5700xt can't 1440p? We'll I suppose it depends on what game's..

Hmm 🤔 personally I've been team red for the last couple upgrades so I'm tempted to see if the grass is greener (insert pun) 3070 can 1440 today but will it in 5 years? We'll see 🙈 though that 6900xt is a sweet little number to and i would be able to keep my tomany X's theme going 🤔 hmmm it comes down to preference and price really, all these are solid options depending on what games you play, of you're the type to play last year's and older titles or the type that needs the new game day of release and want all the frames?

Ryzen 5800X3D(Because who doesn't like a phat stack of cache?) GPU - 7700Xt

                                                           X470 Strix f gaming, 32GB Corsair vengeance, WD Blue 500GB NVME-WD Blue2TB HDD, 700watts EVGA Br

~Extra L3 cache is exciting, every time you load up a new game or program you never know what your going to get, will it perform like a 5700x or are we beating the 14900k today? 😅~

... of you're the type to play last year's and older titles or the type that needs the new game day of release and want all the frames?

The 5700XT can 1440p, but it's 3 years and 3 months old. I don't intend leaving it reach 3.5 to 4 years as my main GPU, I replace GPU-s roughly every 3 years.

As for which type I am... the type that has so many games yet nothing to play, the type that came to love the game he hated (PUBG), the type who has to play competitive (multiplayer, FPS, "realistic"), who doesn't play everything that comes to mind and who has an extremely hard time finding good games (Cyberpunk 2077 was probably the last good SP game I've played through). And I don't like Fortnite, CS:Go, Valorant, I could play Apex if I had to (but not a fan right now) or Tarkov, ...

For what i would like at this time is PUBG on 1440p mix of high&medium&low details to have at least 143 locked as stable as possible without upgrading the CPU. And replaying Cyberpunk at settings higher than a mix of medium and high.

Recently I upgraded to the 7900XT from a 2070 Super, I was in a similar spot...  the RX 6000/7000 are cheaper and more available than even an RTX 3080.... I went 7900 XT because it's the newest and hopefully the finewine holds up..

Haven't tried cyberpunk yet, when you play through it again if you want to stand a chance at ray tracing 3080 or better, if ray tracing isn't your thing then see if you can snag  6950xt besides ray tracing it can do everything else better.

I feel ya about having a hard time finding good games, so many look awesome but just don't pull you in, I have high hopes for AC6 though, haven't been legit hyped about a game release in ten years until I heard about this, hoping my little GPU will run it and the developers don't go on a mission to choke two gen old cards...

How much does your 5800X bottleneck the 7900XT?

I've played Doom3, Call of duty up until the original MW3( lost interest in shooters after this one...except doom 🙂 ) wasn't thrilled with batman but to be fair that was a weird time for me, My computer game list is actually quite small considering how long I've been into them my steam library is only about 40 games half of which are free to play, Partly because I'm picky, partly because as much as I spend on my computer I don't spend much on games lol, Unless im super hype about a certain title I cant bring myself to pay full price

To give an idea here's my most hours in list(onPC)

Fortresscraft evolved

Doom/Doom eternal

Everspace

Everspace 2

Portal

Portal2

Portal reloaded

Valheim

Rebel Galaxy

Id like to try quite a few of the games you've listed and alot are in my steam wishlist but unless someone gifts them to me ill end up waiting till theyr 70% off lol
