CPU upgrade query

Is the Ryzen 5 2400G still relevant in 2023, if not, then what should one upgrade to....?

Usage case scenario : Heavy web browsing,  gaming (1080p 60+ FPS) along with occasional premiere pro editing (Same resolution)

Ryzen 5 2400G -B450M DS3H Motherboard (Gigabyte) - 16GB RAM (CL 16, 3000MHz) - 240GB SSD (Kingston) - 1TB HDD(Seagate) - 450W PSU (Corsair)

For gaming, it depends heavily on what games you're playing. The 2400G can still hit 60fps in a fair number of eSports titles, but it can't handle new AAA games at 1080p.

Yes, however I would upgrade to a 5600G if the motherboard is compatible with it or has a BIOS update that will do that. The 5600G will be quite a bit better in games, however it still does not replace even a basic graphics card.

That being said, for the main workloads you describe here, the 2400G is still fine. I use even older stuff in the office for those tasks. Something you can do however is make sure you have enough RAM installed. For future proofing 16GB is recommended, with many tabs open and some applications in the background.

The 5600G would only offer a meaningful upgrade in CPU bound gaming situations. The Vega 7 graphics in the 5600G are clocked higher and have some minor architectural improvements, but they aren't miles better than the Vega 12 graphics in the 2400G. They sometimes lose in older games.

Ryzen 5 5600 + a graphics card. Rx 6600 would be great.

Are you gonna get a graphics card?

Could drop a 5800X3D in there if you are going to use a GPU, and it will hang with the best for the most part, sans PCIE4

No plans to get a card as of yet

Id wait until you did that, then. You'll gain more from a graphics card in games than you will from a new CPU.

Depends on your usecase. Esports games and other light titles? You might get away with 1080p 60, particularly at lower settings. Newer, heavier titles though? Not a chance.

The 2400g is a decent chip, and GPU wise it's miles ahead of its peers on the Intel side. There's still only so much you can do with an APU though, particularly a 4 year old one.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

I have the Ryzen 5 5600X working with a GTX 3070 8gb.   Its a beast - plays everything I throw at it on top end gfx settings
