Do you need to match all timings, or just CAS latency when using different sets of RAM?

There's no way to set different timings for different sticks of RAM. If you mix the kits, they will default to 16-18-18-38 C16. You can probably overclock to 16-18-18-36 no problem. I was able to get a 16-18-18-36 rated kit to 16-16-16-32 no issues.

I have tried to search but the ol' google-fu is just coming up with matching latency, or just matching timings.

I have:

2x8gb Crucial Ballistix@3200mhz, ‎BL2K8G32C16U4B, seems like the timings are 16-18-18-36 @ CL16

In Spain, there are a lot of 2x8GB kits available on Wallapop [think Ebay, Craiglist] but they are all 16-18-18-38@CL16.

Will this be a massive problem? I want to get up to 32GB, but am worried it is not worth it is they are unmatching latencies.....

Thanks!

Not a massive issue. Depends if you're able to make it work if it doesn't work out of the box. You might have to manually change the timings to the higher timed one and run sub-timings on auto.

I personally have two different sticks of RAM 1x8GB and 1x2GB, also different speeds. No issues so far

I sometimes wonder how we went to space on only 4KB RAM, and we cannot fix a simple issue.

Thanks guys, I will grab one! 40 euros for the upgrade from 16 to 32 is great!

I wish we had US prices for components in EU...
