Context:

Going to building a new PC on monday, already got everything sorted but I'm honestly just very confused by all the ram choices 😜

CPU: 5700x
Motherboard: b550 aorus elite v2.

First of all, I want (need) 32GB of ram, since I'm doing gaming and a bit of streaming and also have 20 chrome tabs open all the time 😜
Also, I would like 4 modules (4x8gb) because it looks cleaner, although im willing to do 2x16. Now the thing is, I don't know which speed to get. So far I've been checking out kingston fury beast 3200 CL16/18/18 2x8 kits, and also the renegade 3600 CL16/20/20 one. With the 3200 I can get 2 kits of 2x8, with the renegade 1 kit of 2x16. For price, I'm willing to go to 105€ MAX, I live in The Netherlands.

Honestly, I would just like someone with decent experience to tell me what Is the best value for me. Gonna game on 1440p.

Thanks in advance!!

With Ryzen, as far as it's come, I'd still only get something that's on your motherboards QVL list.

Also try to get complete kits, not 2 different kits; complete kits are matched, and will have fewer issues working together.

As for the kits you listed, timing wise, outside of synthetic benchmarks you're not going to notice a difference.

Stick with the 2x 16 GB to allow for future expansion. 3600-3800 MHz RAM is recommended for Vermeer chips.

Eh, I've never understood that stance. The number of people that go add RAM to a system later are minuscule.

Yea thats the thing ive been reading everywhere and why im confused, half the people say 3600 is better and the other say its a waste of money

It depends on the chip, some CPUs it's makes a monumental difference, some CPUs the difference is so small the value is diminished after 3000Mhz, it also depends on your needs like if you're going to do real time audio, then low latency is everything so you opt for the faster kit, there are certain games that will benefit but again it depends on the chip, for instance with Ryzen 1000 & 2000 faster memory could be the difference between 20 - 40% performance gains (if you could get it to run stable) 🤣 Ryzen 3000 about 10 - 25% gain with faster memory now the 5000's they definitely do see gains but you likely won't see 25% difference maybe 5% ... 8% ish from 3000Mhz to 3600Mhz if you can get timings low also, so there is something to be gained, a measurable difference but not something you'll notice daily driving it.

So use case and what CPU your pairing with makes a big difference that's why there's confusion and arguments on the topic my stance is 1st specific to the detail use case, budget and if the difference between 3200Mhz and 3600Mhz is $20 don't split hairs just get the faster stuff because it sells better when you're ready to upgrade later and selling the old rig

Ryzen 5800X3D(Because who doesn't like a phat stack of cache?) GPU - 7700Xt

                                                           X470 Strix f gaming, 32GB Corsair vengeance, WD Blue 500GB NVME-WD Blue2TB HDD, 700watts EVGA Br

~Extra L3 cache is exciting, every time you load up a new game or program you never know what your going to get, will it perform like a 5700x or are we beating the 14900k today? 😅~

Alright then, ill do 3600 CL18, since the CL16 kit will probably be too high for my case/AIO.

Honestly, I look at it this way: 4x DIMM config does not allow for expansion without replacing all DIMMs. 2x does. Why close a door that doesn't need to be closed?

3600mhz is the sweet spot, you'll get the most performance for your dollar. I wouldn't really call it a waste of money, but it depends what you value, since worth is a completely subjective topic. Timings, on the other hand (CL16, CL18, etc) are far less important.
