Bios issue old laptop

I am in the process of upgrading an old laptop for my mate. Its an  Acer Aspire A315-41

the Bios on the thing is brutal.   UEFI mode is only selectable.  Cannot get Legacy mode at all.  ( apparently common with Acers )

so i have managed to get windows 11 onto the thing from my USB stick by actually upgrading while windows 10 was on.

and its " okay  "

ideally though i would like to put an SSD into it and use that.  But with the Bios being shite what to do?

how can i get the USB key to show up.

Maybe i need to re-write a USB in RUFUS  and see if it shows up?  as i think i can get it to write in UEFI mode

If you must, install Windows on that SSD on another computer, then pop the Windows-ed SSD into the Acer. Had to do that with two servers of mine.

Fan of workstation/server hardware and old stuff that just works.
