Hi guys

I'm planning on buying and build my first PC this year, and have been eyeing for Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU

I already have 1440p 144Hz monitor for my current daily use (I'm using laptop as daily driver with external monitor for better screen experience)

Is it better for me to buy previous gen AM4 (Ryzen 5800X) or should I buy the current gen AM5 (I was thinking Ryzen 7700, not X version)

Can you give me some suggestion?
Whether it's AMD Advantage aspect, price to performance, and so on

My System: Ryzen 7800X3D // Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX // 32GB 6000MHz DDR5 Silicon Power Zenith CL30 // Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT OC with mod heatsink on the metal plate  // Phanteks P300A  // Gigabyte Aorus GEN4 7300 PCIE 4.0 NVME // Kingston NV2 Gen4 PCIE 4.0 NVME //

Seasonic Focus GX-850 Fully Modular // Thermalright Frost Spirit 140 Black V3 // Phanteks M25 140mm // Display: Bezel 32MD845 V2 QHD // Keychron K8 Pro (Mod: Gateron black box ink; Tape mode on PCB and Keycaps) // Razer Cobra Wired Mouse // Audio Technica M50X Headphone // Sennheiser HD 650 // Genius SP-HF180 USB Speaker //

And Laptop Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 for mobility

Phone:

iPhone 11 (with battery replaced instead of buying new phone for long term and not submitting (fully) to Apple Lord

If your'e buying new, 6800XT isn't really worth the price. They are going for around $700 again, and for that money you should just get a 7900XT.

I would personally buy into the new gen; older systems aren't really that cheap since people are just buying 5800X3D chips to slot into their old motherboards.

If you can hold out, wait a few months and get a new system with a 7800X3D chip + B650, and possibly see a price drop on the 7900XT.

DDR5 prices also continue to fall.

Thanks for the feedback, bro

But the funny things is . . . living in Asia, the pricing is really funny here

For 6800XT it's true around USD700, but both 6900XT and 7900XT is USD1100 (perhaps the 'tax' for latest product, and why would it even have the same price, it's really insane)

But aside from pricing, is there any advantage on using AM5 CPU with previous gen GPU (RDNA2, 6000 series) or it would run better with current gen (RDNA3, 7000 series)

Well the new GPUs are just faster, so that would be your advantage
