Everything server

Hey yall!

I am looking for expertise and advice on building a multi purpose server for virtualization of everything! I want to run something like the below configuration picture and yet be portable. Is this do able or should I swap something out?

Also, should I go straight bare metal hypervisor or go with a lite linux host and virtual box (or other)?

Roles :

Security lab

Classroom server for teaching hacking and defense

Pfsense VPN tunnel and firewall

Gaming box

Whatever else I want

Linked build has a i5 4760 while the picture lists a xeon 1230v3.

If you want this computer to game as well you wont be able to use it as a hypervisor. With the gaming requirement, you will have to use Windows and then put VMware Workstation or virtual box. ESXi, XEN, Proxmox, oVirt are all headless OS's once installed.
