Best cheap CPU upgrade?

My computer has a and fx8350 and a gtx 970 I'm wondering what the best cheap CPU upgrade would be without upgrading the gpu. I cannot afford a complete upgrade at this time

At a minimum you need to upgrade the motherboard, CPU, and RAM, as there's no point in sticking with AM3+ or DDR3.

 

Most modern i3's or R3's will feed a 970 happily.

save your money then , that platform is over a decade old

you're near the top end of that platform's performance.  you won't get much higher, and certainly not for the $ value it'd have.

 

Look for a used box today, Ryzen 3600 (ish) range, I frequently see those boxes go (without GPUs) for ~300$

Thanks! I see no need for me to upgrade the gpu even though its old its still good enough for 1080p medium. Just bulldozer is a trash architecture. I just didn't wanna spend money on an i5

Find someone who upgraded and buy their ram/motherboard/cpu bundle. 

 

Doesn't matter what it is (my area I've seen a lot of ryzen 3000 and Intel i7 7-9 gen). It'll be local market dependent, but it's cheap and better than the trusty ol 8350.
