Drive Configuration

Which drive configuration is better for performance and/or reliablity? And of course SSDs are going to be the fastest but what if a friend is cheap or only has hard drives right now?

 

My current drive configuration is:

 

Boot - 128GB Samsung 840 Pro

Main storage (programs) - 500GB WD Black

Media storage - 1TB WD Black

Partitioning your drive (in windows anyway) is like placing a piece of tape over your screen to partition it so you make it look like two or more screens, pretty useless so don't do it. At one point in the past you needed to break things up on a drive but those days are long gone, one partition per drive is all you need, sure the OS install will add some a "System Reserved" 100MB partition but that's it other than C: for the OS and what ever you name any additional drives.

 

I'm sure there are still some who partition their big drives but its really pointless, unless its some A.D.D. thing or something they heard of that had no solid grounds but sounded like it made sense at the time.
