well if you go on techpowerup the AMD is % wise like 10% faster than 3080 and on par with 3080ti,

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-6950-xt.c3875

JayzTwoCents did a video on 4070ti,

also Gamers Nexus,

interestingly the 6950 XT, wasn't lagging behind 4070ti, in most cases, sometimes 20 less fps, sometimes on par, sometimes slightly ahead in fps, (resolution played big part in these)

it's still hard to tell though weather the card is not worth, or that some driver updates will somehow uplift it, maybe it won't and I'm speaking nonsense...

here's the video it probably explains more sense than me:

Well I won't get any of both upgrading from a 3080 (that's what I currently use), not enough extra performance... At least a 7900xtx or 4080

Personally I'd just wait. But if I had to choose? I'd bite the bullet and spent the extra money on the 4070ti, even if I still think it's overpriced. Mostly this is down to the fact that the 6950XT is a last-gen card while the 4070ti is not: if the 3000 series has shown anything it's that the increasingly length cycles of these cards increasingly favor early adoption.

Also, RTX and DLSS3.0 are Nvidia features that I would be willing to shell out a bit extra for personally, on top of CUDA for anything compute-related (if that's your jam).

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

I sold it for ~$600 and bought it for ~$600 so I didn't lose anything on it. I just wanted something with a bit more oomph.

I hate to support Nvidias nonsense.... But it's just so temping. My 3080 ran at ~76c under normal gaming load and screeched like all hell. The 4070ti Eagle, even though it's a lower model, barely breaks 60c. The 40 series is way over engineered from a heatsink standpoint. The friggin thing is the size of a 4090

The 4070ti is the better card by far. DLSS3 also makes this a no brainer. You can almost double your fps in some games while using it.

Get the 4070ti for dlss3 alone. Even without dlss3 it outperforms the 6950xt.

Going from a 3080 to 6950xt I feel you will be disappointed. Not a big upgrade at all and it lacks the latest features such as dlss3 and improved ray tracing from rtx 40.
