Best headset ?

Go to solution Solved by Stefky,

OK well closed back, the best on the market right now - price to performance wise - are the NAD Visio HP50, Focal Spirit Pro anf Focal Spirit Classic.

The most neutral of the three is the NAD, but I slightly prefer the clean and weighty bass of the Focals. Of the two Focals, the Pro has a more neutral response, and the Classic a more relaxed and laid back take on neutral. Smoother, mote relaxing but not quite as clear.

Personally, I have the Spirit Classic, but I'd take any one of those three and be happy.

One thing to note - the Focals have quite small earcups, so they are less comfortable over long listening periods than the NADs.

Being closed back you aren't going to get the ultimate in sound stage and imaging with any of these, but they all do well in that department for closed models.

If soundstage is important to gaming - the AKG Q701, K712 etc are the cheapest you'll get there. Slightly peaky treble though, and missing some subbass.

the perfect one is headphones and a separate mic.

What is your budget and what sort of sound signature are you looking for? Do they need to be closed back or will open back work for you?

As others above said, standard headphones is the better route to take, but if you let me know more about what you're looking for I might be able to suggest a few pairs.

New to PCs but have been a headphone enthusiast for many years.

I've never considered a gaming headset. I've listened to some in shops and they've all been pretty dire. Always best to look at hifi manufacturers for headphones rather than "gaming" companies.

There are some headphone hifi manufacturers - such as Sennheiser, beyerdynamic and Audio Technica - who make gaming oriented headsets, of those I would trust Sennheiser the most but I haven't heard any of their models.

In general though, if you have a PC with a microphone and headphone socket, why bother? There is no reason not to just find the best set of headphones you can for your budget and needs, then just add a clip on mic.

If you're really looking for audio and sound quality, get a 'real' headphone, made by audio companies. Headsets made by peripheral companies don't compete with headphones. For the same price, you'll get better sounding headphones. Just have to add a separate mic.

I'd say try some of the 'real' headphones first, before going for headsets. From what I saw, headsets descriptions and specs are a bit exaggerated, with a lot of sugar coatings.

Where are you from? What country?

There's nothing special about gaming stuff. If you cannot find brands like audiotechnica, akg, sennheiser, beyerdynamic, or some other ones that I cannot remember right now, there is no use of buying new headphones. You will just be wasting your money for crap. Stick with the bose since those are somewhat good.

Hello

I want to buy a headset for gaming but i don't know i buy sony gold wireless or GX Cavimanus Virtual 7.1 Channel Gaming Headset i want the perfect one

If you want the best sound and best mic set up for a computer DON'T get a headset. ANYTHING labeled a headset will not sound as good as a separate Headphone and Mic set up. I bought sennheiser 558's and a modmic. Also, my sound card did come with a workable table top mic.

So the question is whether you want the best quality of both worlds or the convenience of a headset.

I've used the astro A50's for several months now and have been happy with them since, the only downside is the mic being a little bad quality, they're pretty durable as well as I have thrown them off my head a couple times out of frustration, I know that sounds bad but I have had a few insanely frustrating moments.
