So I’m moving cross country and am having to ship my pc. I have taken out my SSDs, HDD and my GPU. Is it a stupid idea to leave my CPU and cooler in it? Was thinking of putting soft clothes in it like a scuffed expanding foam. If this is a bad idea please let me know lol. Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys

Depends on the cooler, AIO and Intel stock coolers with the push-pins are usually fine. The AMD ones could snap off. I'd carefully take it apart and just leave the motherboard and PSU in place. Basically any aftermarket cooler that screws to the mounting plate should be fine. However tower coolers will put a lot of strain on the motherboard and could also hurt the cpu if for example you had to brake hard. Better to be cautious than to risk damaging perfectly good hardware. If your case has a glass panel, make sure to pack that separately. It could break as well. Btw. if you have a washer/dryer make sure to secure the drum before transporting it. The manual should tell you how to do it.

I'd ship GPU CPU RAM SSD and cooler separately

GPU and cooler are kinda heavy and can damage things in transit

CPU SSD and RAM are small and higher value, so better put them aside

If it's fairly small or not mounted entirely on the socket (eg an AiO) i wouldn't worry. Large tower coolers could snap off though

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case
