Hi guys, this might be a lengthily post, but my issues with my RAM have been driving me crazy.

TL/DR: Replaced my RAM with the same exact ones, turning on DOCP or manually setting the memory MHz (stuck at 2666, RAM is rated at 3600) will not allow me to get past BIOS.

So I've had the same build for a while now, but one day as I'm changing my fluid, I accidently spilled a little on 1 (I just have 2) of my sticks of RAM. Now it wasn't a ton of fluid (couple of drops), and I took the stick out and *very* thoroughly cleaned it with rubbing alcohol, but I guess it was enough for my system to stop recognizing it. So I'm guessing I broke it, and I bought the exact same replacements. The RAM I've been using is the G. Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16 Gb (up to 3600 MHz), my Motherboard is the ASUS X570 Prime Pro.

So after taking out the old 1 stick of RAM, and putting the new 2 sticks back in, I turned my system on and went to BIOS to activate DOCP to set the correct RAM frequency (default is 2666). After saving the settings, my system turns off, restarts exactly 3 times, and then the "American Megatrends" logo appears and keeps telling me that my system is POSTed in safe mode. After trying all day, my system will only work if all default settings in BIOS are set. Turning on DOCP or manually setting the memory to 3600 MHz will result in the same outcome above. I've reset my CMOS and no dice as well. My RAM is in the A1 and B1 DIMM sockets (idk if that helps lol).

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Just to make sure we're on the same page, I assume you have both new stick in the PC and are seeing this behaviour?

Also, could you give us your full system specs?

I took out both of the old sticks of RAM and I have 2 only in my setup right now (brand new). And yea, just started when I put the new sticks in.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X

Mobo: ASUS X570 Prime Pro

Memory: G. Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16 Gb

GPU: RTX 3090

SSD: addlink 1Tb M.2

CPU and GPU are liquid cooled (temps are fine)

Thanks!

This actually does matter. Try putting both new sticks in B2 and A2. We wont worry about the old ones.

Let me know how this goes.

Looks like I potentially have an even worse problem. System won't even boot when RAM is in B2 and A2. The DRAM light is on too 😞

Did you get any liquid on your motherboad? Its possible you shorted something and now one of your memory channels is dead. However, before we go assuming the worst, try booting with just one stick. If that works, try putting that stick in each of the 4 slots and booting with it (for example, if one stick boots in B1, take it out and try it in B2, then A1, then A2). What we're trying to do here is seeing if maybe one DIMM slot or RAM module is dead.

Ok seems like just the A2 port doesn't work, but it's pretty weird because when paired together the system doesn't boot at all
