I'm planning on simply chasing a CAT6 cable from my lounge to my office. With an RJ45 socket on each end. Then plugging my router into the socket in the lounge & then a switch (which will then go to my PC/other things) into the socket in my office.

That should work.

Hiya everyone,

Just need to advice on if my plan will work or not (I'm not very network inclined, nor have I ever done anything like this in the past). I'm currently renovating my house and I'm looking to get wired internet from my router in my lounge into my office, which is upstairs and on the other side of the house. Powerline adapters are not an option, and we don't have arial running in the house.

Essentially like this:

Before I go chasing cables into cinderblock walls, I just want to make sure my crazy (or no so crazy) plan will actually work).

Thank you 🙂
