Is 8GB of RAM really as bad as its seeming on my machine

Recently I sent in one of my two 8GB RAM sticks back to GSkill. I should get a functional one back in a week or so but I wasn't expecting 8GB of memory to be eaten up so quickly. I usually have Firefox (10ish tabs), Discord, Steam, and Spotify open. I know that's not trivial but my memory utilization is constantly hovering over 80-90% in Task Manager, and whenever I do anything more intensive I basically have to close my browser.

Is this normal now? Are the days where 8GB could get you by coming to a close?

10 browser tabs is a lot, it will eat up RAM even if it is firefox.

So yes, it is normal.

The average user don't have 10 browser tabs open at the same time, so 8GB is still okay. My work laptop only has 8GB, and it is doing just fine for office use.

I guess you're right. I knew browsers were memory hungry but I didn't realize just how hungry

I have two machines with 8GB of RAM running Windows 7 and have no issues with that.

I can open lots of tabs with no issues... The issue is Windows 10.

Alright now I'm curious. Looking at Task Manager Firefox is definitely hungry but it seems to only account for 1-1.5GB. There's a whole lot of other stuff, why is Skype eating 100 MB when it isn't open?

8GB is fairly easy.  I routinely go over 32GB used.
