Need new mouse; recommendations please

My 4-year old SpeedLink Kudos mouse started doubleclicking and I think it's time to get a new one.

The problem is, I'm low on money so I can't purchase the mouse I would like (Logitech Proteus Core G502) and even if I could it's not available in my country yet.

 

My backup mice all have flaws (like acceleration, negative acceleration, z-axis bug, low tracking speed, low pooling rate, ...) so I do need a new primary mouse.

 

I'm a high-sensitivity player (let's say 15-20 cm on the mousepad for a 360° turn in the game), right-handed, hold the mouse with the claw/fingertip grip and move it from the wrist.

My hand size is small to medium with medium length thin fingers and I mostly play FPS games online (like Call of Duty 4, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, CS:GO, ...), sometimes an SP game.

 

As for the budget, I need an recommendation for the range of 200-380 HRK (croatian Kuna) with shipping and a recommendation for 380-500 HRK

(there is a possibility I could get a few Kn more than the 380 I have). 1 USD ($) is about 5.50 HRK (Kn). 1 EUR (€) is about 7.50 HRK.

It would be nice if the mouse would have a flawless sensor (or at least a Avago 9500 which I'm used to), at least 5 keys (more preferable), long-lasting key switches (Omron or better), 500+ Hz pooling rate, good build quality, good feet and adjustable cpi. Profiles, macros, weights etc would also be nice, but they're not a muss.

The g602 is just on  the edge of that price range if pprices are the same there with a straight conversion

G602 is out of the range (the lowest price I can find is about 550 HRK which would relate to 100 USD). That is too much for me.

These were my favorites too but I will have to dismiss G400s since I used MX-518 and could not get accustomed to it's shape (hand started hurting). And the white Recon looks strange (but the price is appealing).

I'll check Steelseries Rival a bit more, I'm not familiar with it (reviews etc). I don't remember Linus reviewing it, nor Logan, Austin, Paul, Dmitry, Elric, ... All I can say about it -it looks nice.

 

Edit: found Linuses review and a lot of others.

 

Edit: Rival would be good if it weren't lottery (check Hardwarecanucks review), Recon would be good if it weren't ambidextrous.

As I have to buy the mouse without trying it, I'm scared to go for Rival (I have no luck with peripherals/components - if something can go wrong it will).

I have a razer deathadder 2013 and it is a very good mouse for gaming. The razer taipan would aslo be a good option.

i dont want to argue with you but in my opinion the deathadder has a very good build quality

Have not seen a single DeathAdder that has not started double-clicking after a few months of usage. In my eyes that's bad build quality.

i have mine for one and a half year and it's still working. 

But it's your decision wich mouse you're going to buy and if you don't want to buy a razer mouse then buy another one.

How would G400s feel when beeing used with a claw grip?

Now I'm analyzing online information about Cooler Master Storm Reaper and Storm Havoc and I'm checking if I can find Corsair M65, M40 and M30 somewhere here in Croatia.

Any info on the pros and cons of these mice?

I've been to town and tried how a DeathAdder 2013 fit's my hand. It feels very good and costs about 500 HRK (translated to USD that would be ~90$ or to EUR ~67€).

Today I will try repairing Kudos and if it doesn't work I will buy the next mouse tomorrow or the day after. And it seems it will be DeathAdder.

And I repaired the Omron switch on my Kudos mouse today. The fix is temporary so new mouse buying is suspended at the moment (put on hold) and I don't know for how long.

I currently own a Deathadder 2013, G400s, Rival, and G502. I've only used the Rival for about 2 weeks total, but so far I am really impressed with it. I would recommend the G400s or the Rival based on your original post. I haven't had any problems with SteelSeries products in the past, and the Rival has an edge over the G400s in a few ways.

• Better scroll wheel. The G400s scroll wheel has a mushy middle click. It also occasionally gets stuck in between 2 scroll steps, making the mouse scroll up or down by itself during movement. This has been an issue on previous Logitech mice as well(g5 comes to mind)
• Rubber sides. The rubber sides on the Rival are amazing. Grippy, but not soft enough to rub off on my thumb or fingers.
• Lighter, though not by much. This is an advantage when using a claw or fingertip grip since you will have an easier time flicking the mouse. It doesn't compare to a DA2013 in how light it is but it's definitely not a whale like the G502.
• Onboard memory. The G400s won't even save your CPI settings when you uninstall the software. The Rival will save everything, including remapped buttons.
• Custom LED bling! It's just a nice bonus when your lighted peripherals match.
• Not a positive or negative. A lot of people go on and on about how the Rival is a great mouse for big hands, but it's really not that big. VERY similar in size to the G400s, just with a more pronounced hump compared to the smooth arc of the G400s.

If you decide against the Rival because of QC issues then I would say go for the G400s. It's a great mouse as long as you can overlook the scroll wheel, and if you don't mind either the default CPI steps(I use 800 personally so I'm fine with them) or you don't mind keeping the software installed for it. Keep in mind that all peripherals can arrive defective. My first G400s actually had a misaligned scroll wheel, which caused it to rub at certain points. There are also a lot of people who complain about their DA2013 having poorly applied feet, or who get mice with the left+right click weighted very differently.

I have a Corsair M 65 I have large hands which I have to claw grip I am not sure how it is with smaller hands.

They all have advantages. DA is extremely light and I absolutely love the "hairpin trigger" style clicks. Using the DA can cause my hand to cramp up during long sessions though. There's also the spinning issue, but in MOST cases that's solved by updating the firmware. In your original post you say adjustable CPI, which the Deathadder doesn't have. Well it does, as long as you keep the software installed and rebind the buttons to switch the sens, or use a Razer keyboard and bind some of the keys to change the sens. If you can live without hardware buttons for CPI adjustments, then the Deathadder is an awesome mouse.

 

Quick pros and cons I guess:

DA2013 - Pro: Lightweight. Hyperresponse buttons. Keeps CPI+polling rate when uninstalling driver. Con: Expensive. Braided cable(some people dislike the friction it can cause)

SS Rival - Pro: Onboard memory for driverless key binds. Con: Possible quality control issues? Haven't read into it much really. Kinda small mouse feet that may wear out faster.

G400s - Pro: Inexpensive. 3 year warranty. Con: Bad scroll wheel design. Some people find the right side ridge uncomfortable for their ring finger. Absolutely no onboard memory.

In my original post I say adjustable CPI, but it doesn't matter if it's in software or on the mouse. Adjusting on the mouse is not even needed, but it's a plus. Some mice have fixed DPI values like 800-1600-3200 and that is what I don't like, I sometimes use 1200-1350-1800 dpi. If I'm correct DA allows DPI to be changed, but you can't change it on the mouse, so you can't change it accidentally during gameplay and there are a few things less that can go wrong. 

 

What spinning issue?

Some users have their sensor go nuts. In a first person game this results in your character spinning really fast, usually looking either up or down at the same time. Razer released a firmware update that solves the issue in most cases.A friend of mine still experiences it after the firmware update, but he has had issues with his USB ports in the past so it may be unrelated to the Deathadder in his case.

A great choice for you would be the Corsair Raptor M45. Great for claw grip, and does not have any acceration considering it is an optical sensor. Specifically, the PixArt ADNS 3310 sensor, which is said to be one of the pest sensors on the market currently.

Unfortunately it is not available here. Also M40 would be good too, but no shop has it (the importers do not import what they should).
